On July 6th 1988, a series of explosions and fires ripped through the Piper Alpha platform, killing 167 men, and leading to the greatest loss of life on an oil rig.
Using the Cullen Report as its basis, this workshop examines the events and decisions leading up to the disaster, the managerial and communication issues that existed within the company, and the pressures experienced by all those on the platform which ultimately lead to this entirely avoidable tragedy.
